US officials have ordered the evacuation of more than 1.7 million people from the southern and northern Carolinas and Virginia because of the imminent arrival of Hurricane Florence, which is expected to hit the US coast on Friday morning, (13).
The phenomenon has been demoted from category 4 to 2, but is still considered dangerous and can cause water to rise four meters in some areas. With winds of up to 175 kilometers per hour, the hurricane is expected to cover an area of more than 10 million people.
Forecasters believe Florence can reach the US at level 1 (winds of up to 160 kilometers per hour), which would be enough to cause $ 1 billion in damages. "Do not play with it, that's one of the big ones," warned President Donald Trump in the White House.
