China's Deputy Minister of Commerce Wang Shouwen is
expected to visit the United States next week to talk to US Treasury
Undersecretary David Malpass.
The willingness is to resume the dialogue in an
attempt to reverse the imposition of surcharges on Chinese products imported by
the United States. The initiative interrupted bilateral negotiations.
The meeting will mark the first trade talks since US
Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross and Chinese Deputy Prime Minister Liu He met
last month in Beijing.
Official bilateral talks were suspended due to the
recent imposition of tariffs on Chinese imports of US $ 34 billion. In the case
of China, it reaches 818 products, most of them technological and industrialized
goods.
As of the 23rd, the United States and China should
impose additional import duties of $ 16 billion for both sides.
