Russian
presidents Vladimir Putin and American Donald Trump voltaram denied on Monday
(16) that there has been interference from Russia in the last elections of the
United States, in which Trump was elected president. The two leaders made the
remarks at a joint press conference after a two-hour meeting in Helsinki,
Finland.
In the US, the
alleged Russian interference is a subject of investigation. Last Friday, the
Justice Department indicted 12 Russians for conspiracy to hack into the
Democratic Party committee during the election.
"I had to
repeat what I have said many times: the Russian government has never interfered
and will never interfere in the internal affairs of the United States,
including in the electoral process," Putin said.
The Russian
president said that if there is a formal request to investigate the alleged
electoral collusion to question suspects, he will be served by the Russian
authorities. But he said he would instead interrogate US agents suspected of
"illegal acts" against Russia.
According to
Putin, Russia suspects that US intelligence agents were involved in channeling
$ 400 million of an entrepreneur to the campaign of Hillary Clinton, candidate
that ran against Trump.
The US
president also denied any Russian interference. According to him, this theme
was discussed in much of the meeting.
